Sorsogon State University-Research, Extension and Training (SorSU-RET) hosted its 27th In-House Review of Completed Research and Extension Projects, held virtually via Zoom on January 23-24, 2025. The two-day event, themed “Collaborative Solutions for Sustainable Development: Research Impact on Education, Communities, and Innovation,” provided a platform to highlight the university’s commitment to promoting impactful research and amplifying its benefits across education, communities, and innovation.
The event began on Day 1 with welcome remarks from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. It was followed by the presentation of participants by Ms. Jezzabie Gamis (IP-TBM Head). Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training) introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Francisco A. Datar (Professor, UP Diliman), who delivered an address highlighting the importance of research in driving sustainable development. Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training) introduced the distinguished panel of evaluators and Engr. Ivy Rose B. Gonzales (Director, Research & Development) explained the critiquing process.
During the breakout sessions, the panel of evaluators provided constructive feedback on the presented research and extension projects. Day 2 resumed with a recap of the previous day’s activities, followed by a plenary session from Dr. Higino A. Ables (SorSU Consultant), who discussed the role of research and innovation in addressing development challenges.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of winners, with the Best Research Paper in each category and the Best Extension Paper being recognized for their excellence. The winners are as follows:

By facilitating collaboration among researchers and educators, the event reinforced the university’s commitment to sustainable development through education and innovation. The success of the event highlighted the importance of research-driven solutions in addressing challenges and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
