On January 24, 2025, the Sorsogon State University Library, under the supervision of Mrs. Erlinda P. Enguerra (University Librarian), donated 80 books and various reference materials to the Library of Pilar Community College (PiCC). The donation, made through the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pilar, aims to enhance the academic resources available to students and faculty at PiCC, the first public tertiary school established in the Municipality of Pilar, Sorsogon.
Similarly, on September 6, 2024, the Pamantasang May Puso also donated books to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Sorsogon City and BJMP Gubat to expand learning resources for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) and to support their educational, vocational, and socio-cultural development.
As a staunch advocate for educational development, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus led the initiatives, emphasizing her commitment to supporting accessible and quality education for local students.
Hon. Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes (Municipal Mayor of Pilar), JCINSP Tedler K. Samonte (Acting District Jail Warden, BJMP Sorsogon City), and BJMP Gubat expressed gratitude for the donation, noting its positive impact on the community and the PDL. The partnership among SorSU, BJMP, and the LGU of Pilar reflects a shared goal of improving access to education in the province. (SorSU PIO)
