Celebrating the rich diversity of Indigenous languages and cultural heritage, the three-day 2025 Joint International Decade of Indigenous Languages & International Mother Language Day Conference (Joint IDIL & IMLD) 2025 officially culminated with a dynamic closing ceremony at the SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.
Prof. Teresa Haide R. Belgica (OIC Campus Director/Dean, College of Health and Science) delivered the closing remarks, in lieu of Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City).
Prof. Belgica emphasized, “This conference has been a testament to our shared commitment to language rights, literacy, and inclusive education. This gathering has not only affirmed our shared commitment but also strengthened to look forward with meaningful reforms that upload linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.”
In his message, Mr. Antonio Igcalinos (President, 170+ Talaytayan MLE, Inc.) expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the entire SorSU secretariat and community for the successful organization of the conference.
Moreover, several participants shared their key takeaways and insights during the three-day Joint IDIL & IMLD 2025, highlighting how the conference profoundly reshaped their views and understanding of the transformative impact of multilingual education in fostering effective language learning.
The three-day event marked a significant milestone in the collective mission to promote linguistic diversity and cultural identity, capturing the essence of the event and inspiring participants with a call for action to further advocate for the preservation and celebration of Indigenous languages, as well as for progressive reforms in language learning.
