Sorsogon State University Hosts Business Launching at SM Sorsogon

The Sorsogon State University Young Entrepreneurs’ Society (SorSU-YES), in collaboration with 4th year BS Entrepreneurship students, successfully held the BS-Entrep Business Launching event at SM Sorsogon on March 26, 2025. With the theme “From Start-Up to Scale-Up: Lessons from Successful Entrepreneurs,” the initiative provided a platform for students to present their business ventures, gain insights from industry experts, and explore new market opportunities.

The event started with opening remarks from Prof. Teresa Haide R. Belgica (Acting Dean, SorSU-CoHaS), followed by an inspirational message from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. In her message, she advised the young entrepreneurs to have a positive personality and outlook on life, traits that define businesspeople: “Pagiging pala-kaibigan, masayahin, masipag, malakas ang loob, maaasahan sa trabaho, madiskarte, at higit sa lahat, may puso at mapagkakatiwalaan.”

Prof. Ma. Claire M. Dicen (Dean, College of Business and Management) introduced the speakers, who shared their expertise during the Business Talks. These included Aldwin Jeryl Oro Deduque (Owner/Manager/Franchisor of Tea’ Ra Food Hub), Mr. Alexander Von Ivan Valera (Avic, Crafts and Design), and Ms. Julianna Erika Uy-Gaw (Uy Gaw Space Rental, Ricky’s General Merchandise).

After the talks, an open forum was held, with the presentation of tokens and certificates facilitated by Ms. Cristy Docdocos and Ms. Pauline Pearl Cruz. Mr. Bryan O. Fruto (Program Chairperson, BS Entrepreneurship) shared his words of appreciation, while Ms. Cristy Docdocos delivered the closing remarks.

The event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official launch of the business. It effectively bridged the gap between academic knowledge and practical business experience, providing students with insights to advance their business ideas. (SorSU PIO)
