Joint IDIL & IMLD 2025 Day 1 – Afternoon features parallel paper presentations, themed panel discussions

Themed “Reaffirming Rights-based Reforms in Language, Literacy, and Learning,” the afternoon activity of Day 1 of the 2025 Joint International Decade of Indigenous Languages & International Mother Language Day Conference exhibited concurrent paper presentations as well as themed panel discussions at the SorSU Audio-Visual Hall and SorSU Dormtel, Sorsogon City Campus.

The themed panel presentation in the afternoon session featured several key topics, including “Multilingualism as a Resource, Not a Problem: Promoting Multilingual Education in the Philippines” by Dr. Fernigil L. Colicol (College of Technology and Oceanography, Mindanao State University – Tawi-Tawi), “Maximizing L1 as Auxiliary Language of Instruction” by Dr. Maria Mercedes E. Arzadon (University of the Philippines), “The narratives on the constitutionality of the Republic Act No. 12027” by Mr. Francis Tom A. Paredes (Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology) and Ms. Shiela V. Paredes (Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology). The session wrapped up with an open forum, allowing participants raise queries and seek clarifications actively. (SorSU PIO)
