OVPAA, HRMDO organizes seminar called Unlocking Career Opportunities: The Power of Microcredentials for faculty, student-leaders

As part of the proactive plans and preparations of the University in integrating microcredentials into the curriculum aimed at enhancing the employability of its graduates, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) and the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), successfully held a one-day seminar called “Unlocking Career Opportunities: The Power of Microcredentials” for all SorSU faculty members and selected student-leaders on February 20, 2025, at the SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.

Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs) emphasized in his opening remarks that the seminar is part of the academe’s commitment to providing quality and relevant education through innovative instruction.

“I hope we support the integration of microcredentials into our academic programs to ensure that our graduates are not only well-educated but also industry-ready.”

The one-day seminar featured an insightful presentation by Mr. Francis Xavier Hernandez (Co-founder/Vice President, Audentes Technologies), titled “Unlocking Career Opportunities: The Power of Microcredentials,” highlighting his talk on the nature, structure, and trends of microcredentials, as well as how other top universities and colleges in the Philippines integrate them into their curricula and instruction.

Afterward, a Q&A session followed, which provided an avenue for the participants to raise queries and clarifications on the implementation of microcredentials in instruction, their framework, delivery methods, and assessment, as well as their impact on employability and the dynamic industry landscape.

Dr. Abner L. Dellosa (Head, HRMDO), in his closing message, urged the faculty-attendees to take on the challenge of championing the implementation of microcredentials in the institution. Dr. Dellosa remarked, “By doing so, we are not only preparing for a brighter future but also reinforcing our role as educators who are dynamic, innovative, and globally competitive.”

This initiative is designed to further strengthen faculty development and graduates’ readiness for the ever-evolving workforce, ensuring that the University’s curricula align with industry demands and community needs. (SorSU PIO)
