Sorsogon State University (SorSU) marked another significant step forward in its commitment to academic excellence and compliance during a meaningful and productive courtesy call to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on June 4, 2025 in Quezon City.
Leading the delegation were Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, SUC President III; Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Susan S. Janer, Dean of the Graduate School. Their visit was focused on strengthening institutional ties, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing SorSU’s academic programs.
A major highlight of the visit was the formal awarding of four (4) Certificates of Program Compliance (COPCs) from the Office of CHED Commissioner Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela. The university was able to offer the following curricular programs: Master in Education major in Educational Management, and Master of Arts in Education with majors in Filipino, English, and Science Education, respectively. This achievement reflects SorSU’s steadfast commitment to meeting national standards in higher education and signifies substantial progress in the university’s academic development.
As part of the university’s continuing efforts to secure full compliance for all its academic offerings, the delegation also engaged with the Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD) where they held a productive discussion with Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, OPSD Head, to follow up on SorSU’s pending COPCs for its graduate programs.
This strategic visit reaffirms SorSU’s unwavering dedication to quality assurance, academic excellence, and dynamic collaboration with national and regional higher education stakeholders. (SorSU PIO)
