LOOK: The Sorsogon State University Career and Placement Services/Industry Linkages and Development Office (ILDO), in collaboration with the Gender and Development Office and Student Teaching Organization, conducted a seminar titled, “EmpowerED: Nurturing Minds, Securing Spaces – A Seminar on Mental Health, Safe Spaces, and Cybersecurity for Student Interns and Trainees on February 3, 2025 at SorSU AV Hall.
To promote awareness concerning safety, security, and well-being, in preparation for the teaching internship and on the job training, the said seminar is part of the pre-deployment activities conducted by ILDO.
It was participated in by 282 practice teachers from the College of Teacher Education and 389 students from the College of Engineering and Architecture who will have their OJT in the midyear.
The seminar featured the presentation of BSNEd/BEEd Program Chair Prof Jackielyne M. Bosquillos on Practical Tips for Managing Pressure without Losing your Balance and the discussion of GAD Sorsogon City Campus Coordinator Ms. Glady Joy M. Mella on Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313).
Moreover, the Team Leader of PNP Provincial Cyber Response Team PLt. Carl Michael Camba, Investigator PSSg Flordeliza Vito, along with the focal persons from DICT Sorsogon, Ms. Michelle Agua and Mr. Gerald Gojar, discussed cybersecurity and cybercrime awareness among students.
Also present in the seminar were the CoTEd Dean Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia Jr, who delivered a message, Student Teaching Coordinator Anabell Manga who gave the welcome remarks, ILDO Sorsogon City Campus Coordinator Dexter Aurelio who facilitated the activity, and Program Chairs of CoTEd.
The seminar was immediately followed by the off-campus Teaching Internship Orientation that highlighted the course requirements and internship concerns. An open forum followed to answer questions raised by the students.
BCAEd and BPEd students Julia Marie Teves, Maye Galve, and Arabella Corral gave a dance intermission followed by a song number from Chin-Chin Lao. Mr. Gener Nathaniel B. Lasap, President of Student Teaching Organization delivered the closing remarks.
The program concluded with the distribution of nameplates for the student interns and picture taking per program.
