SorSU undergoes reg’l CHED quality assessment for BS Midwifery

As part of its continuous efforts toward upholding program excellence, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) underwent a CHED Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) visit for its Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSM) program under the College of Health and Science (CoHaS), pursuant to CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 03, s. 2023, on May 9, 2025, at the SorSU Dormtel – Augusto’s Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.
The RQAT visit, led by Ms. Maria Concepcion T. Aslor (RQAT Member), commenced with opening remarks from Ms. Mary Anne Frances D. Reyes (Associate Dean, BS Midwifery), underscoring the University’s commitment to academic excellence and community-responsive service through producing competent, compassionate, and well-prepared midwives.


Associate Dean Reyes added, “Our faculty, staff, and students have worked with dedication and purpose to prepare for this visit, and we look forward to your constructive feedback… We see this process not as a challenge but as a meaningful collaboration — a partnership aimed at ensuring the quality and relevance of our Midwifery education.”


Ms. Aslor, in her statement of purpose for the visit, conveyed the CHED RQAT Team’s commitment to providing constructive guidance and support while upholding the standards for Midwifery education.


The RQAT assessment included a comprehensive review of documents, an evaluation of key areas, and an ocular inspection of the University Library and the programs’ skills laboratories. Particularly, Ms. Aslor assessed the following key areas: Government Recognition; Board Performance; Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Goals; Curriculum and Instruction; Program Administration; Faculty Profile; Student Services; Community Outreach; and Physical Plant. After the program evaluation, Ms. Aslor presented the RQAT’s valuable recommendations and feedback during the exit conference.
