The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) Sorsogon State University Student Unit participated in the 16th Regional Student Convention (RSCon) held at the Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) last May 1 to 3, 2025, clinching the 2nd Runner-up against other state universities and colleges in Bicol Region.
In the Academic Events, five teams from SorSU competed in a show of exceptional intellect and practical skills in the field of mechanical engineering. Two teams managed to take home bronze medals for finishing 2nd runner-up.
In the Regional Quiz Show, Team 1 managed to place 2nd runner-up, earning them a bronze medal, while team 2 finished as 3rd runner-up.

Meanwhile, the lone team who competed in the Machine Design Competition secured a bronze medal after having finished as 2nd runner-up. The team was composed of:

Aside from the academic events, the delegate of SorSU PSME participated in other categories such as sports events, e-sports, culture and arts, other special events. They bagged numerous awards in the following events:

ï€ Badminton Single Men – Champion
ï€ Chess – Champion and 1st Runner-up
ï€ Mixed Volleyball – 2nd runner-up
ï€ Table Tennis Mixed Doubles – 2nd runner-up
ï€ Table Tennis Single Women – 2nd runner-up
ï€ Vocal Duet (Bismar and Jalmasco) – 1st place
ï€ Digital Poster Making – 2nd runner-up
ï€ Photography – 2nd runner-up
ï€ Meme Contest – Champion
ï€ Parody Contest – Champion
These awards secured a top spot for them in the final tally. Ultimately, SorSU PSME merged as the 2nd runner-up in the final stand against other universities and colleges around Bicol Region, only falling behind Bicol University (over-all champion) and host school BISCAST (1st runner-up). Nevertheless, such a feat mark another milestone for SorSU PSME as they continue to bring pride and honor to their Alma Mater.
