The University Student Council (USC) of Sorsogon State University (SorSU) conducted a special election for the positions of President and Vice President on February 19, 2025, held at the Student Services Building, Sorsogon City Campus. Norgel D. Bermudo’s (former USC President) decision to relinquish his position due to personal reasons prompted the need for new leadership to represent the student body.
Three candidates vied for the presidency, while two students ran for the position of vice president. Manuel Selencio, a third-year BS Entrepreneurship student from the Magallanes campus, was elected President. Meanwhile, Carl Ducta, a second-year Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAED) student from the Sorsogon City Campus, was elected Vice President.
The event was attended by Prof. Gina Mendonez (Head, Student Council Affairs) who supervised the election process and ensured its successful conduct. Also present were Supreme Student Council (SSC) Advisers: Prof. Jhocelyn B. Ombao (Sorsogon City Campus), Prof. Achilles G. Honasan (Castilla Campus), Dr. Rommel R. Regala (Bulan Campus), and Mr. Robert G. Buban (Magallanes Campus), along with various student leaders.
The election emphasized the importance of student involvement in the process, allowing them to choose leaders committed to advancing student welfare and organizing activities that will benefit SorSU community.
Congratulations to the newly elected officers! (SorSU PIO)
