On February 20, 2025, the Sorsogon State University College of Technology (SorSU-COT) welcomed 47 students from Sitio Quirino Buhatan Elementary School for an educational tour as part of the university’s extension program, Project Quirino. Organized by the school’s teachers, the Lakbay Aral aimed to enrich the students’ learning experience by exposing them to cultural and academic environments.
Accompanied by their parents and teachers, the children visited the Sorsogon Provincial Museum, the Sorsogon Sports Complex, and the Sorsogon State University. These experiences allowed them to gain insights into both the cultural and academic environments.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Erlinda P. Enguerra (University Librarian) donated books to the students and teachers of Sitio Quirino Elementary School. This contribution provided the learners with new educational resources and emphasized the importance of access to quality learning materials.
“Project Quirino” reflects SorSU’s ongoing efforts to make a positive impact and to support underserved communities by providing educational opportunities that encourage academic growth. It highlighted the university’s commitment to community service and educational development.
Present during the visit were Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training Services/Program Leader, Project Quirino), Prof. Jezzabie G. Gamis (Head, IP-Technology Business Management), Mrs. Patty Samonte, faculty members and student volunteers from the College of Technology. (SorSU PIO)
