On August 15, 2025, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), along with twenty-six national government agencies, participated in the “Information cum Serbisyo Caravan: Trail Towards Bringing the Government Closer to the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) of Donsol,” held at Donsol Centrum for Recreation, Donsol, Sorsogon.
The event was organized by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA-Sorsogon), in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Sorsogon Communicator’s Network (SorComNet), and LGU-Donsol. It aimed to deliver basic government services and relevant information directly to Indigenous Peoples.
Beneficiaries included residents from various barangays in Donsol, especially those from six geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) with large IP populations.
Ms. Myrna D. Leoncito (Director, SorSU Public Information Office), Ms. Marinel Soriano (Head, SorSU Scholarship and Financial Assistance Services Office), and Ms. Cheryl Deri (Information Officer II, SorSU PIO) represented Sorsogon State University (SorSU) during the Information and Serbisyo Caravan. The team engaged with participants, addressing inquiries and providing information on scholarships, admissions, and other academic matters.
Their participation highlighted SorSU’s role in disseminating information and services to local communities. By bringing these services closer to where they are needed most, the multi-agency caravan helped make government efforts more inclusive and responsive to the needs of Indigenous Peoples in the province.
