To expand its impact, improve program quality, and strengthen its role in community development, the Sorsogon State University Office of Extension and Training Services (SorSU-OET) held a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with partner agencies on August 20, 2025, at SorSU Dormtel, Sorsogon City.

The program began with opening remarks from Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus). This was followed by introductions to the partner agencies involved, along with overviews of their respective projects. Each presentation highlighted specific initiatives and goals aligned with the university’s extension efforts.

  • Mr. Roy Jarlego (Project BALUKO) Partner LGUs and Sorsogon City Elementary Schools: Brgy. Cambulaga and Cambulaga Elementary School, Brgy. Bitan-o and Bitan-o Elementary School, Brgy. Talisay and Sorsogon Pilot Elementary School, and the Sorsogon City Committee on Education
  • Ms. Patricia Samonte (Project Quirino) Partner Agency: Philippine Statistics Authority, Sorsogon
  • Dr. Orlando Doncillo (Project Quirino) Partner Organization: Sosogon Eagles Club)
  • Mr. Juan Miguel E. Batalla (Gawad Kalinga, Area Development Officer)

SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, represented SorSU in formalizing the agreement, along with representatives from partner agencies. Mr. Florentino Ubalde Jr. (DA RFO5), Hon. Ma. Teresa D. Perdigon (LGU Sorsogon City Committee on Education), Mr. William Mabini (Principal, Cambulaga Elementary School), Mr. Ronald M. Barcelo (Secretary, Sosogon Eagles Club), Mr. Ian Barbin (Representative, PSA-Sorsogon), and Mr. Juan Miguel E. Batalla (Area Development Officer, Gawad Kalinga), expressed their support through messages, reinforcing their commitment to shared goals.

President De Jesus addressed the attendees, emphasizing the need for joint efforts in achieving common objectives. She remarked, “If we coordinate with and support each other to accomplish common goals together, we can do more to help not only Sorsoguenos and Bikolanos, but the entire Filipino nation. In our challenging times, we must cooperate and form stronger ties with each other to maximize our capabilities and resources in serving our society and even the entire world.”

The ceremony ended with closing remarks from Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training Services), officially initiating a stronger collaboration between the university and its partner agencies. (SorSU PIO)
