From Spark to Waves, We’re Making Marine History!

🌊Sorsogon State University Magallanes Campus proudly advances its BS Marine Biology program, now entering its second year of implementation!

What began in 2024 with a pioneering batch is now gaining momentum, adding a new year level this 2025, and paving the way for more future marine scientists dedicated to protecting and understanding our rich marine ecosystems.

We’re not just offering a program, we’re building a movement for ocean conservation, scientific innovation, and environmental leadership. The waves start here.

Sorsogon State University Magallanes Campus proudly advances its BS Marine Biology program, now entering its second year of implementation!
Beyond our academic and field activities, we believe that parents play a vital role in shaping the future of our student-marine biologists. That’s why we held a Parent Onboarding Session, an open and collaborative space where we discussed academics, fieldwork plans, financial matters, and even future career opportunities for their children. Because when we plan with parents, we move forward with unity, clarity, and purpose.
At SorSU Magallanes, we believe that academic success starts with a healthy, balanced mind. That’s why we go beyond books and fieldwork , we also care for our students’ mental well-being. Through a seminar-workshop led by our resident registered psychologist, Sir Mikko Guardiañ our students gained insight into mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and strategies for coping with the pressures of student life and transitioning into young professionals. Because when students are mentally strong, they can ride any wave, in school and life.
Through our Semestral General Assembly, students have the opportunity to voice their academic concerns and share their visions for “SorSU Sea Explorers Alliance”, their very own student organization. It’s more than just a meeting, it’s a space where leadership, confidence, technical skills, and responsibility are nurtured, preparing them to become independent, capable young professionals ready to take on the world of marine science. When students are heard, they lead. When they lead, they thrive.
