The Sorsogon State University Magallanes Campus proudly celebrated the Education Department Academic Days 2025, with the theme “Nurturing Knowledge, Competence, and Character for Educational Resilience and Excellence,” on October 1, 2025. This momentous occasion served as a platform for students to demonstrate their academic prowess, creativity, and innovative spirit.
The event commenced with a dynamic opening program, featuring captivating performances by students in singing and dancing, showcasing their artistic talents and setting the tone for a day of intellectual exploration and discovery. The academic segment of the event featured a series of competitions, including the Quiz Bowl, Spelling Bee, and Debate, which tested the students’ knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills. The Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Science students actively participated in these events, demonstrating their mastery of subject matter and pedagogical skills.
In conjunction with the event, a Book Drive was organized, and the university community responded enthusiastically, donating books to support the initiative. This endeavor aims to foster a culture of reading and learning, promoting academic excellence and intellectual
curiosity among students. The students’ creativity and innovative spirit were showcased through their booths, each representing a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). The booths demonstrated the students’ understanding of the SDGs and their commitment to creating a more sustainable and equitable world.
The highlight of the event was the search for Mr. and Ms. Education 2025, which culminated in the crowning of Ms. Alexis Hantic (BSEd 3A) and Mr. Smith Lopera (BEEd 3B) as the outstanding pair among the nine pairs of candidates. This segment showcased the students’
charisma, confidence, and leadership potential. The success of the Education Department Academic Days 2025 can be attributed to the tireless efforts of my organizing committee, comprising Mr. Edward Pepano, Mr. Michael Galapon, Dr. Mae San Pablo, Dr. Vivien L. Chua, Ms. Shaira Mendones, and Mr. Robert Buban. I also acknowledge the support of the Aspiring Educators’ Guild, UniVERSE, and Supreme Student
Council, as well as the faculty members and non-teaching staff who contributed to the event’s success.
I express my deepest gratitude to our University President, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, and our Campus Director, Ms. Lynn C. Mendoza, for their unwavering support and encouragement. Their leadership and vision have inspired us to strive for excellence in education and community service.
The Education Department Academic Days 2025 served as a testament to the university’s commitment to nurturing knowledge, competence, and character, and its pursuit of educational resilience and excellence. We look forward to continuing our mission to shape the future of education and transform lives.
