The activity was organized by the Planning Management Office (PLMO), in partnership with the Budget Office, to review SorSU’s accomplishments for the current year, assess institutional performance, and start drafting plans for the upcoming fiscal year.
The workshop commenced with welcome remarks from Mr. Gerald E. Fulay, JD (Vice President for Administration and Finance), followed by Dr. Catherine A. De Castro’s (Director, Planning Management Office) presentation of the Statement of Purpose and introduction of the participants.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, in her message, recognized the efforts of everyone in advancing the university to the level of success it has achieved today.
Moreover, she said, “COOPERATION, COORDINATION, COMMITMENT, and COLLECTIVE ACTION are the vital requisites to realize the initiatives and plans we will be crafting starting today, and in their implementation, will guide our thrusts and priorities. Equally important as these 4 Cs are two basic characteristics: the ability to listen and the duty to fulfill promises.”
The first set of presentations focused on performance accomplishments. Ms. Janine D. Bitara (Planning Officer I) presented the Accomplishments in the SorSU Strategic Plan 2022-2026, and Engr. Cindy D. Deocareza (Planning Officer III) reported on the Accomplishments in the 2025 Institutional Performance Targets of SorSU as of November 14, 2025.
The program proceeded with updates on the 2025 Approved Annual Operational Plans, which included the sharing of best practices from various offices and units. Presentations were delivered by Dr. Susan S. Janer (Dean, Graduate School), Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus), Dr. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, Bulan Campus), Mr. Andrew F. Detera (Campus Director, Castilla Campus), and Ms. Lynn C. Mendoza (Campus Director, Magallanes Campus).

The first day concluded with discussions and inputs for the formulation of the 2026 Annual Operational Plan. The workshop will continue over the next two days as SorSU officials and personnel coordinate efforts to align programs, targets, and resources for the year ahead.
