π₯ Agri-Isturyahan: Third Episode
Marhay na aldaw saindo gabos! We are deeply honored to share a profound and inspiring chapter from the life of Sorsogon State University β Castilla Campus. It was a vibrant morning, painted with the promise of growth and filled with purpose. This collective endeavor honored the deep roots from which we all grow while actively cultivating the shared future we aspire to build.
β
βThis day stood as a testament to the enduring connection between education, land, and community. On January 30, 2026, the campus came together for a hands-on Rice Planting Activity. Led by SUC President III Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Campus Director Prof. Andrew F. Detera, and College Dean Dr. Oscar Peter Pascual, faculty, staff, and students stepped into the muddy fields. Together, they planted seedlings and experienced firsthand the dedication, patience, and labor that bring our staple food to the table.
β
βThis simple yet powerful activity was more than just planting. It was a living classroom. The rice fields imparted invaluable lessons on the vital role of our farmers, while also revealing the true essence of leadership and our shared responsibility to the land that sustains us. Each seedling planted stood as a symbol of hope, growth, and our collective promise for the future.
β
βThrough this initiative, we continue to nurture a sustainable future for our community and nation. Join us as we look back on this meaningful day through an exclusive interview with SorSU President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus (President Giggy), as she shares her personal experience in rice planting and her heartfelt message for the students. We also feature Mr. Ronel B. Hagos, a dedicated farmworker, who imparted his deep knowledge of rice planting methods and the wisdom gained from working the land.
β
βThis initiative reflects our strong commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 15: Life on Land, through hands-on learning and sustainable agricultural practices.
β
βTara na! Every seed tells a story, and every hand contributes to its growth. π±
