In support of initiatives recognizing the contributions of women in society, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, along with Prof. Andrew F. Detera (Campus Director, Castilla Campus) and members of the faculty and staff, participated in the 2026 National Women’s Month celebration held at Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Castilla Campus on March 6, 2026.
In her message to the academic community, she said, “This year’s National Women’s Month celebration highlights the role of women in modern Philippine society as respected leaders, competent professionals, and above all, catalysts of change and dependable partners at home, in the workplace, and in the community.”
She further stated that a true woman leader leads with a heart or “PUSO”, which she described as being Purpose-Driven, Understanding, Service-Oriented, and Open-Minded – qualities that women leaders are encouraged to practice in their work and service.
As an empowered leader, President De Jesus actively promotes women’s empowerment. She motivates women to take on leadership roles and participate in initiatives that strengthen both the university and the community. (SorSU PIO)
