SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus joins the SorSU Castilla Campus in celebrating the 2026 National Women’s Month at the FTC Hall, SorSU Castilla Campus on March 6, 2026.
Pres. De Jesus delivered an inspirational speech illustrating the quintessential roles of women in the Philippines. She emphasized that female leaders lead with a heart or “PUSO”, which she defined as Purpose-driven, Understanding, Service-oriented, and Open-minded.
During the segment Mensahe ni Juana, Sen. Risa Hontiveros delivered a message through an audiovisual presentation which further strenghtened the message of advancing gender equality by acknowledging your colleagues’ efforts and supporting them as a community.
The keynote speaker, Prof. Gretchen B. Millena, delivered a presentation titled “The Babaylan Mandate: Reclaiming Filipino Women’s Leadership Through the Years, which highlighted the great contributions of Filipina leaders through history. She reminded everyone of the huge role women play in precolonial times – the babaylan, which were highly respected by the community. She also noted numerous female leaders who left a big mark on the Philippines.
The event reminded everyone that women remain to be powerful icons in the country despite the views of other societies and that women are WOMEN, not just women (babae ka, hindi babae lang).
