Sorsogon State University – College of Teacher Education (CoTEd) celebrated the academic achievements and professional development of future educators during its Recognition Day 2026 on June 4, 2025, at the SorSU CBM Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.

Outstanding students were honored for their performance in academics, professional qualifications, academic competitions, sports, culture and the arts, leadership, and service.
The college showcased accomplishments in various academic competitions, including notable participation and awards in the National Student Research and Innovation Conference (NaSRIC) 2026, Halo-Halo/Iba-iba: Samo’t-saring mga Akda (International Edition), 2nd Gawad Pamana ng Pluma International, IpinaLOKAL: Training Series for Youth Participation in Governance Online Program (National Leadership & Governance Training), and 23rd Regional V Tertiary Schools Press Conference (RTSPC).


Students who passed the Career Service Examination (CSE) Professional level were also recognized, along with recipients of special distinctions, such as the International Internship Excellence Award and Outstanding Student Teachers across specializations. The college likewise celebrated National Certificate (NC) passers in Bread and Pastry Production (BPP) NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II, Automotive Servicing NC I, and Cookery NC II.


CoTEd’s distinguished guest speaker, Ms. Maria Diana J. Escultura, shared her professional journey as an educator, emphasizing her commitment to serving in a remote elementary school despite greater opportunities elsewhere. She underscored the vital role of teachers in guiding and shaping young learners. The speaker also reflected on how her background in campus journalism inspired her current role in training and mentoring young student journalists.


Meanwhile, Mary Grace B. Doctor (Academic Excellence Awardee) conveyed the Words of Gratitude on behalf of the honorees. The program opened with a welcome message from Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr. (College Dean) and concluded with closing remarks from Assoc. Prof. Anabell A. Manga (Program Chair, BSEd English).


The celebration reinforced SorSU-CoTEd’s mission to produce competent and service-oriented future educators, grounded in academic excellence, professional training, and holistic formation. (SorSU PIO)
