Serving as the distinguished commencement speaker, Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan, Jr., CESO III (Director IV, Commission on Higher Education – Regional Office V), underscored the vital contributions of educators and entrepreneurs in national development. Highlighting the significance of both professions, he remarked, “One develops minds, the other develops opportunities. One prepares people for the future; the other helps create that future. And both are indispensable in nation-building.”
Dr. Anduyan further encouraged the graduates to pursue meaningful success, reminding them that meaningful success extends beyond personal recognition. He emphasized, “Make it big. Making it big means not only about becoming famous. It is about becoming significant. It is about choosing purpose over comfort, excellence over mediocrity, and impact over recognition. To make it big means to dream beyond limits. Strive for excellence, and achieve your highest potential. Because true success is not only measured by achievements or titles, it is measured by the lives you touch and uplift.”
The commencement also featured the awarding of medals to academic honorees and diplomas to the graduates. Representing the Class of 2026, Ms. Jirah G. Halamani (BSEd-Mathematics), Magna Cum Laude, delivered the Words of Gratitude. The Day 1 – Afternoon Session of the 33rd Commencement Exercises concluded with the singing of the SorSU Hymn, celebrating the graduates’ accomplishments and the successful completion of their studies.
