SorSU pursues global ties, inks MOA with US-Based OnDemand Innovation, DBA ODI Technologies, Inc.

Pursuing the University’s vision to developing globally competitive leaders and professionals, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ceremonial signing between Sorsogon State University (SorSU) and OnDemand Innovation, DBA ODI Technologies, Inc., took place on June 26, 2023, at SorSU Board Room, Sorsogon City Campus.

With the active involvement of SorSU – International Relations Office (IRO), headed by Dr. Vivien L. Chua, the MOA signifies a shared partnership and collaboration on developing productive and skilled future workers through a student internship/training program, aiming to assist SorSU in co-developing “𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤-𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚” in selected industry disciplines.

Student-interns who will undergo the Internship Program at ODI Technologies, through the selection and recommendation of the University, are fourth-year college students under SorSU – Bulan Campus College of Information & Communications Technology (CICT): Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), and Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS), with four (4) selected student-interns (under Computer Science Program) as part of the initial partnership.

OnDemand Innovation, DBA ODI Technologies, Inc., with offices both in the United States and the Philippines, is a global privately held commercial company providing services and solutions that include 𝘌𝘹𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴, 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘊𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 & 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴, 𝘚𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵/𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘧𝘧 𝘈𝘶𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴.

During the ceremonial MOA signing program, Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), in his welcome remarks, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to OnDemand Innovation (ODI) and its CEO, Mr. Michael J. Espina, emphasizing that the input from ODI will undoubtedly ensure the relevance of the ICT curriculum of the Bulan Campus, as technology is evolving at a rapid pace and for the University to keep abreast of new developments in order to remain up-to-date and relevant.

Meanwhile, Mr. Michael J. Espina (CEO, ODI Technologies) also gave a message to the attendees, where he mentioned that the Philippines is his mother’s homeland and this is his way of giving back and assured SorSU of ODI’s commitment to changing the lives of the Sorsoganons.

Moreover, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, and Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam both shared their hopes and aspirations to establish Sorsogon State University on a global scale. Prof. Demdam concluded her 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚 with a hopeful remark, “𝘐 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴.”

SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, represented the Sorsogon State University, while Mr. Michael J. Espina (CEO, OnDemand Innovation, DBA ODI Technologies, Inc.) represented OnDemand Innovation, DBA ODI Technologies, Inc. The ceremonial signing was also attended by Engr. Rey C. Rodrigueza (Dean, College of Information & Communications Technology – Bulan Campus; Prof. Corazon G. Bongalosa (IRO Coordinator, SorSU – Bulan Campus); Mr. Jopet Vincent B. Medalla; Mr. Anthony S. Gacis (MIS Coordinator, Bulan Campus); Ms. Caryl L. Gamis (IRO Staff); and other SorSU employees & ODI representatives.
