Themed, “Class of 2026: Values-Driven Workforce, Digitally Inclined Lifelong Learners,” Sorsogon State University (SorSU) celebrated the graduation of 601 candidates from the College of Business and Management (CBM) during the second day of its 33rd Commencement Exercises on June 9, 2026, at the Sorsogon Convention Center.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, formally conferred degrees upon the graduates, including 307 from the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), 278 from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), and 16 from the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA).
In her address, Dir. Edna Cynthia S. Berces (Regional Director, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development – Regional Office V), the esteemed commencement speaker, emphasized that while artificial intelligence continues to transform industries, integrity, compassion, empathy, and character remain the qualities that distinguish successful professionals.
“As future accountants, hospitality professionals, and tourism managers, your technical skills will open doors but your values will determine how far you go once those doors open… People may forget some of your accomplishments, but they will remember how you treated them. They will remember whether they could trust you. They will remember your kindness when it was not required. Those are the things that truly define success,” she highlighted.
Dir. Berces also urged the graduates to view their diplomas not merely as symbols of their academic achievement but as a call to contribute meaningfully to the future of their families and communities, and to the advancement of Sorsogon, Bicol, and the nation.
The graduation rites likewise included the awarding of academic honors and diplomas. Ms. Jojie Mae H. Luna (BSHM), Magna Cum Laude, delivered the Words of Gratitude on behalf of the Class of 2026.
Congratulations to the BSHM, BSTM, and BSA Class of 2026! May you carry forward the values of integrity, service, and excellence as you begin your journey as professionals.
