Carrying the theme, “Class of 2026: Values-Driven Workforce, Digitally Inclined Lifelong Learners,” Sorsogon State University (SorSU) conferred degrees on 575 candidates from the College of Technology (COT) during the third day (morning session) of its 33rd Commencement Exercises on June 10, 2026, at the Sorsogon Convention Center.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, formally conferred degrees upon the graduates, composed of 288 Bachelor of Technology (BT) – Major in Automotive Technology, 198 BT – Major in Electrical Technology, and 89 BT – Major in Architectural Drafting Technology.
Atty. James L. Cundangan (Assistant Solicitor General, Office of the Solicitor General), the honorable commencement speaker, shared a key lesson from his life story centered on resilience.
“The point here is… resiliency. It is not the strongest or the fittest who will survive in this earth, but it is the person who can adapt the most. Again, you don’t need to be strong. You don’t need to be great. You don’t need to be an ace student to be successful in life. You need to adapt to the environment, for you to flourish… You strive to be the best version of yourself,” he emphasized.
The speaker also acknowledged the dedication, hard work, and sacrifices of the parents of the graduating class, encouraging continued guidance and support as their children pursue further personal and professional advancement. He added, “I am challenging the parents: make sure that your children in front of me right now will not stop striving to become the best version of themselves.”
The graduation rites likewise featured the awarding of academic honors and diplomas, as well as the Words of Gratitude delivered by Mr. Armando D. Detera, Jr. (BT-Architectural Drafting), on behalf of the Class of 2026.
Congratulations to the BT-Automotive, BT-Architectural Drafting, and BT-Electrical Class of 2026! May your next chapter bring growth, purpose, and meaningful success in your professional journey.
