Sorsogon State University (SorSU) celebrated another milestone as it conferred degrees upon 533 graduates from the College of Technology (COT) during Day 3 (afternoon session) of its 33rd Commencement Exercises held on June 10, 2026, at the Sorsogon Convention Center.
Guided by the theme, “Class of 2026: Values-Driven Workforce, Digitally Inclined Lifelong Learners,” the ceremony underscored the university’s commitment to developing graduates who embody professional competence, ethical leadership, and adaptability in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
During the ceremony, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, officially conferred academic degrees upon the graduating students. Among the graduates, 64 completed their program in the Bachelor of Technology major in Civil Technology (BT-CIVIL), 184 in Bachelor of Technology major in Electronics Technology (BT-ELX), 37 in Bachelor of Technology major in Garment Technology (BT-GARMENT), 191 in Bachelor of Technology major in Mechanical Technology (BT-MECH), and 57 in Bachelor of Technology major in Welding and Fabrication (BT-WAF).
Speaking before the graduates, esteemed speaker, Dir. Rommel R. Serrano, CESO III (Regional Director, Department of Science and Technology), encouraged the graduates to strive for excellence while remaining grounded in compassion.
He said, “In a world powered by technology, we need compassion. Technology may make us faster, but the heart makes us better. Technology may connect devices, but the heart connects people. Technology may solve technical problems, but the heart helps solve human problems. That is why Pamantasang May Puso is not an old-fashioned ideal. It is a timeless creed that embodies the spirit of SorSU. Here, you are taught not only to become competent professionals but also compassionate human beings. Carry your skills with excellence, but carry your heart with you wherever you go.”
Outstanding graduates received honors and medals during the ceremony, while diplomas were conferred upon members of the graduating class. Delivering the Words of Gratitude on behalf of the graduating class was Ms. Joileen D. Diaz, a BT Electronics graduate and Magna Cum Laude, who expressed appreciation to the families, mentors, and members of the university community for their support throughout the students’ academic journey.
To the Class of 2026, congratulations on this well-earned achievement! As you step into a new chapter, may you continue to pursue your goals with purpose, uphold excellence in all that you do, and find fulfillment in the opportunities and challenges ahead.
