Celebrating Four Years of Vision, Leadership, and Transformation
Great institutions do not rise by chance. They rise when vision is matched by courage, purpose is translated into action, and leadership inspires an entire community to move forward together.
In just four years, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus has led Sorsogon State University (SorSU) through a transformative period of significant institutional transformation. Her first term has been defined by a steadfast pursuit of excellence and a clear commitment to strengthening the university’s core mandates.
Under her leadership, SorSU has advanced the quality of instruction, produced board topnotchers, surpassed national passing rates and earned multiple recognitions as a top-performing institution. These achievements reflect the university’s efforts to enhance its academic programs, provide stronger support for students, and elevate the performance of its faculty and academic units.
SorSU has also strengthened its research and innovation programs, developed modern facilities and infrastructure, improved fiscal management, and gained significant national and international recognition, including notable achievements in global rankings. The university’s growing visibility and recognition through national and international awards reflect the progress made under President De Jesus.
From having limited global exposure, SorSU has developed an expanding network of international partners and opened more opportunities for student mobility, faculty collaboration, research cooperation, and global learning. These initiatives have strengthened the university’s international linkages and enhanced its presence in the global higher education community.
Yet at the center of SorSU’s progress are its people.
President De Jesus recognizes that institutional excellence depends on a strong, empowered, and valued workforce. Through training, professional development, scholarships, and capacity-building initiatives, her administration has invested in the people who drive the university’s progress. Her inclusive leadership ensures that no campus is left behind and that every member of the SorSU community has a place in the institution’s growth.

As President De Jesus completes her first four-year term as University President, the Pamantasang May Puso has become a more competitive, more inclusive, and more globally connected institution.
