Out 56 posters submitted, Sorsogon State University Magallanes Campus extension program presented by faculty member Mr. Elden G. Orgela won 3rd Best Poster Award during the 8th Biennial Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors, Inc (PAEPI, Inc) Convention last August 16-18, 2023, at Metrocentre Hotel Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Mr. Elden Orgela prepared and presented the poster and paper for the completed extension project STC4iD (Science and Technology Community Based for Inclusive Development) of Sorsogon State University (then Sorsogon State College), Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), and the University of the Philippines – Los Baños, titled “Empowering Farmers/Fisherfolks in Bagatao Island: A Science & Technology-Based Inputs for Sustainable Livelihood Development in Magallanes, Sorsogon, Philippines”.
This extension project was through the efforts of SorSU’s researchers and extensionists namely Dr. Vivien Chua as Project Leader, and Extension Experts; Dr. Leny Dioneda Berdin, Mr. Elden Orgela, Ms. Clarice Colting-pulumbarit, together with Prof. Ron Dangcalan – Economics Expert. With project team members, Ms. Sherlyn Buitizon Cendaña, Prof. Margielina Melitante, Ms. Naiza Cobaldez, Jonas Mella and BIGANI Association, along with the partner agencies.
The 3-day convention, was co-organized by Bohol Island State University and hailed the theme. “Empowering Extension Professionals Towards Social Transformation and Food Security.”
The Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors, Inc. (PAEPI) was founded in 1989 by the Technological University of the Philippines, it is considered as one of the oldest organization of extension program implementations in the country. It is a non-profit professional organization whose vision is to elevate extension services as a profession through continuous research and extension capability building that will significantly redound to the growth and development of extension professionals.
