NCIP Chairperson, Mr. Capuyan, turns over Project Epanaw’s three Coffee Table Books (CTBs) to SorSU University Library

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), headed by Mr. Allan A. Capuyan (Chairperson, NCIP), turned over a set of Project Epanaw’s three (3) Coffee Table Books (CTBs) to Sorsogon State University (SorSU) – Office of the Library Services represented by Ms. Laura P. Brioso (School Librarian I), together with Dr. Leny D. Berdin (Chief Administrative Officer V and Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance) and Atty. Mary Joy C. Bongapat (Executive Assistant, Legal Affairs and SorSU Board Secretary) today, August 23, 2023, to wit:

Project Epanaw’s 3 CTBs:

(1) PAGKILALA (Recognize Indigenous Peoples and Ancestral Domains);

(2) PAGGALANG (Respect Justice Systems, Cultural Integrity, and Way of Life); and

(3) PAGTAGUYOD (Promote Tourism Destinations, Protected Areas, Critical Infrastructure, and Natural Resources in Ancestral Domains

Epanaw, a MANOBO term that means journey, is one of the projects of NCIP, which produces Coffee Table Books (CTBs). Relatively, under Republic Act 8371, also known as “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦’𝘴 𝘙𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘈𝘤𝘵 (𝘐𝘗𝘙𝘈) 𝘰𝘧 1997,” the NCIP is the primary agency mandated to protect and promote the interest and well-being of the 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴/𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴 (𝘐𝘊𝘊𝘴/𝘐𝘗𝘴) with due regard to their beliefs, customs, traditions, and institutions.
