Sorsogon State University (SorSU) President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region V Director, Atty. Septon A. De la Cruz were among the attendees of the Senate Committee Hearing for the Fiscal Year 2024 SUCs Budget, today, October 2, 2023, at Sen. Jose P. Laurel/Sen. Geronima T. Pecson Committee Rooms, Senate of the Philippines, Pasay City, Manila.
The hearing discussed matters about the Proposed 2024 National Expenditure Program of SUCs, CHED, and the Development Academy of the Philippines. It was presided over by the Senior Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Pia S. Cayetano, and panel members Senator Loren B. Legarda, Senator Risa Hontiveros, Senator Win Gatchalian, Senator Joel Villanueva, and Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa were also present during the Budget Hearing to query the agencies concerned.
Moreover, key resource persons included Chairperson of CHED, Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” de Vera III, CHED Commissioner Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag, OIC UniFAST Executive Director, Atty. Ryan L. Estevez, Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), and Batangas State University President, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo among others.
Furthermore, Sen. Loren Legarda gave Philippine Literature Books to SUC Presidents including copies for the University.
