SorSU-Bulan Campus came even more alive today, August 19, as student leaders from accredited organizations spearheaded a vibrant welcome for first-year and returning students, marking the start of the Academic Year 2024-2025.
The kick-off event tagged #SorSUSalubong2024 started with the participation of faculty, staff and students in the flag-raising ceremony to exhibit shared nationalism and commitment to the institution.
Following this, an invigorating #BalikSorSU2024 ceremony was held at the “Manggahan” area where Dr. Diana V. Sales, Dean of the College of Business & Management Education, and Prof. Ruel G. Grafia, OIC-Dean of the College of Information & Communications Technology, delivered inspiring messages, motivating students to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the new academic year.
A flash mob dance by the student leaders added a further surge of energy to the event, captivated the students and heightened the excitement. Student leaders also took the stage to introduce their organizations, inviting students to participate in activities designed to foster holistic growth. They also engaged the audience by asking questions about their expectations for SorSU, facilitating a stronger connection between the administration and the student body.
Highlights of the kick-off were the different interactive booths set up by student organizations to provide a welcoming environment for all students. These included photo booth, emotion booth, and free pen and bookmarks booth. There was also a face painting booth which encouraged self-expression and creativity among the students while a clothes thrift shop promoted individuality through fashion.
Salubong 2024 is just the start of a vibrant school opening at SorSU-Bulan Campus, as further engagements await next week for the Orientation Day and Buwan ng Wika Celebration. (Sorsogon State University – Bulan Campus)
