In the tranquil surroundings of Amor Beach Resort in Brgy. Dancalan, Donsol, Sorsogon. The Sorogon State University Castilla Campus recently came alive with the spirit of unity, introspection, and celebration at the much-awaited Banyuhay 2.0 event.
Held over March 25-26, 2024, the event marked a significant occasion for fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and holistic development within the university community.
The event commenced with an opening address by Professor Andrew F. Detera, the Campus Director of SorSU-CC, who extended a warm welcome to esteemed university officials, distinguished guests such as Ms. Mary Ann Jintalan, Resource Speaker, Dr. Maria Lourdes Barozzo, University Registrar, and Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, University President. Professor Detera underscored the essence of Banyuhay 2.0 in promoting solidarity and the exchange of knowledge among the workforce of SorSU Castilla Campus.
Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus shared her joy and optimism for the event, lauding the significance of Banyuhay as a pivotal platform for employee development and camaraderie. She also commended the Castilla Campus for its remarkable achievements, particularly as the University’s premier Agriculture Campus.
The agenda was further enriched with logistical insights and House Rules from Ma’am Vergie Nolial of the Admissions and Guidance Office, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for all attendees.
Professor Sheryl A. Gregory shed light on the event’s objectives, emphasizing the promotion of well-being and cooperation within the SorSU community.
Mr. Albert Acuna, SorSU Castilla GAD Coordinator, provided an overview of the day’s agenda, highlighting the diverse activities planned for enhancing discussion and interaction among participants.
A series of talks and interactive sessions were pivotal in achieving the day’s objectives. Ms. Mary Ann Jintalan delivered an impactful session on Stress Management, offering strategies for coping with stress and promoting self-care.
Ms. Rica Mirandilla’s presentation on Financial Literacy underscored the importance of financial awareness and stability, providing valuable insights for managing finances effectively.
The afternoon was dedicated to outlining goals for Research, Instruction, and Extension, with key presentations from College of Agriculture Dean Dr. Rochele N. Aragon, Research and Development Coordinator Mr. Brian Gabriel J. Buenaobra, and Research and Extension and Training Coordinator Ms. Ira M. Habla. These sessions aimed at enhancing the academic and community engagement initiatives of SorSU Castilla.
Team-building activities rounded off the afternoon, embodying the essence of unity and collaborative growth that Banyuhay 2.0 aimed to instill.
