Along with Dr. Catherine A. De Castro (Director, SorSU-Planning Management) and Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training), the officials of the Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC), headed by Engr. Glen Espena (S&T Fellow II, Project Leader), paid a courtesy visit to SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, on March 19, 2025.
During the visit, they discussed “PiliXtractify”, a two-year project launched by the DOST-MIRDC with SorSU as its cooperating agency. This undertaking is designed to modernize the Pili pulp oil extraction process through automation and smart technologies, addressing existing production limitations through tailored research and development efforts.
Present at the meeting were several members of the Project Team, including Engr. Joein Luces (Senior Science Research Specialist), Dr. Francis N. Baleta (S&T Fellow III), Engr. Peter Alviar (Project Technical Specialist I), Engr. Hannah Olivenza (Project Technical Aide V), Engr. Matthew Adame (Project Technical Specialist I), Duane Tenorio (Project Technical Assistant IV), Mikah Miciano (Project Technical Specialist I), Linda Viviezca (Project Technical Assistant IV), and Ms. Lilian Alice D.
