To empower all faculty members with essential, up-to-date capabilities in creating outcome-based education (OBE) syllabi, innovative teaching methodologies, and AI-enhanced assessment tools, trainer-participants of the recently-concluded Enhancing Teaching Excellence: A Futured-Focused Two-day Trainers’ Workshop on OBE Syllabus, Teaching Methods, and Assessment Tools dated January 21-22, 2025, successfully cascaded their acquired practical knowledge and skills to co-faculty members in their respective campuses/colleges through a two-day simultaneous seminar-workshop titled Shaping Future-Ready Education: AI-Enhanced Syllabus, Teaching Methods, and Assessment Tools, held on February 6-7, 2025, across three campuses: Sorsogon City Campus, Bulan Campus, and Magallanes Campus.
Spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) and Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), the two-day training-workshop highlighted discussions on Unlocking the Basics of AI in Education: Trends and Challenges, AI-Driven Innovative and Future-Ready Teaching, Crafting Adaptive and Dynamic Assessment Tools with AI, and Empowering Trainers: AI-Driven Outcomes-Based Syllabus Creation. During the workshop, the assigned faculty-trainers per campus/college empowered their co-faculty members in designing and adapting outcomes-based education (OBE) syllabi, innovative teaching methodologies, and AI-enhanced assessment tools.
The participants were also equipped to refine assessment tools such as TOS, tests, rubrics, aligning them with dynamic learning outcomes, as well as integrate AI tools into teaching practices, aimed at personalizing learning experiences, optimizing instructional strategies, improving student engagement, and fostering classroom effectiveness.
Further, the faculty also collaborative engaged in a group workshop session, focusing on updating and revising their respective course syllabi with the integration of AI tools, in which their outputs were assessed and critiqued by the faculty-trainers. In addition, the participants completed a post-test as a concluding activity.
Dr. Jhonner D. Rifacort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), along with the resource speakers of the two-day trainers’ workshop last January 21-22, 2025, including Dr. Aaron A. Funa, Prof. Nestor L. Lasala, Jr., Prof. Jordan M. Pocaan, and Mr. Renz Alvin E. Gabay, conducted an on-site monitoring to ensure the successful conduct of the two-day workshop across the three campuses and various colleges.
Meanwhile, SorSU-Castilla Campus organized its seminar-workshop last January 27-28, 2025, at the Farmers Training Center, Castilla Campus. (SorSU PIO)
