On December 11, 2024, Mr. Juan Miguel E. Batalla (Area Development Officer, Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc.), along with the GK management team, paid a courtesy visit to SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. The meeting marked the start of a potential partnership focused on empowering communities and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Goal of Zero poverty.
During the meeting, the GK team shared their enthusiasm for collaborating with the university on initiatives aimed at poverty reduction and community empowerment. President De Jesus expressed her full support for the proposed partnership, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to contributing to the SDGs. She emphasized the importance of joint efforts to strengthen communities and support vulnerable groups.
In addition to the meeting with the University President, the GK management team held an exploratory discussion with Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training), Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training Services), and Engr. Ivy Rose B. Gonzales (Director, Research and Development), where they explored possible areas of collaboration. Both parties agreed to work together to identify key areas for partnership and develop strategies for implementing impactful programs.
