Hello! Japan Program promotes cultural exchange and understanding at SorSU

On January 16, 2025, the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan, in partnership with the SorSU-International Relations Office (IRO), SorSU-Nihongo Language Training Center (NLTC), and SDS-Sports and Culture Services Unit, hosted the Hello! Japan program at the SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City. The event was designed to deepen understanding of Japanese culture and offer insights into academic exchange opportunities.

The program began with welcome remarks from Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus), followed by Dr. Vivien L. Chua’s acknowledgment of the guests, visitors, and participants. Ms. Mukaigawa Yurie (Cultural Officer and Researcher/Adviser), delivered a message emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange in building connections and deepening mutual understanding. Moreover, Ms. Lorenna Laanan introduced the participants to Japan’s cultural heritage.

A key highlight of the event was Ms. Mukaigawa’s presentation on the Embassy’s Academic Exchange Program, where she shared information about opportunities to study and experience life in Japan. Participants also enjoyed a hands-on cultural experience during the Yukata demonstration and a special performance by Mr. Fumiya Sankai (Japanese vlogger and actor).

The Hello! Japan program was a successful initiative in advancing the university’s efforts to enhance internationalization and cultural awareness. (SorSU PIO)
