Carrying the theme “Himig, Sining at Kuwento: Pagpaparangal sa Husay ng Malikhaing Sorsoganon,” the 2025 Joint International Decade of Indigenous Languages & International Mother Language Day Conference proudly presented and celebrated Cultural Night at Gabi ng Pagkilala sa mga Manlilikhang Sorsoganon 2025, on March 27, 2025, at the SorSU Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.
The Cultural Night showcased a wide array of vibrant and captivating lineup of performances, including Saya – Davao and Kunday by SorSU Dance Theater & Cultural Group (DCTG), Handog by SorSU Instrumentos de Cordo, Indayog by SorSU TACSAKATE, and Istorya kan Pinakulan by DCTG and SorSU Instrumentos de Cordo. These performances artfully demonstrated the province’s artistic diversity and cultural richness, celebrating the distinct heritage of the Sorsoganon people.
A key highlight of the event was the recognition of exceptional individuals from the Province of Sorsogon for their invaluable and significant contributions to its rich tapestry of culture, arts, and literature. Among the honorees included Dr. Gloria E. Reymundo (Municipality of Barcelona); Mr. Valerio P. Zuniga, Franco “Paking” Arribas, Arturo “Turing” Recato, Sergio H. Hizo (Municipality of Bulan); Mr. Emeterio S. Funes, Mr. Abraham Tan, Mr. Roy D. Frayna, Ms. Klara D. Espedido, and Alberto Garrate (Municipality of Bulusan); Dr. Luis Camara Deri and Dr. Stephen Henry S. Totanes (Municipality of Gubat); Mr. Zaldy Grefaldeo and Mr. Teddy Griarte Espela (Municipality of Juban); Prof. Oliver F. Garbin (Municipality of Sta. Magdalena); and Mr. Danilo A. Razo and Mr. Gibbs Cadiz (Sorsogon City).
