Lab High students Manago, Renovalles bag bronze medals; Deyto, Encinares, Calleja, Lagajino garner merit awards at Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO) – Final Round 2023-2024 in Singapore

In another historic academic feat, six (6) Sorsogon State University – Laboratory High School (SorSU-LHS) students exhibited remarkable performances at the recently-concluded Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO) 2024 – Final Round, with two (2) students clinching bronze medals, while four (4) students garnering merit awards, held from June 13-17, 2024, at the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), Singapore.

BRONZE MEDALISTS:
Josef Romeo Manago (Grade 11) – Senior Secondary (Online)
Maemi Maria Philippe J. Renovalles (Grade 7) – Secondary 1

Phoebe Encinares (Grade 11) – Senior Secondary (Online)
Hannah Kai Calleja (Grade 10) – Senior Secondary

In reference, the Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO), which is open for students from Grades 2 to 12, is an annual international science competition conducted across the world, with four (4) main categories, namely, Physics, Biology, Chemistry & Integrated Science (Global Olympiad Academy, n.d.).


Among the onsite participants of the international competition were Maemi, Steven, Hannah Kai, and Leisha, who were also accompanied by their respective coaches: Prof. Mylene J. Lascano, Prof. Cyra Mae R. Soreda, and Prof. Maria Flora J. Renovalles (Department Head, SorSU-LHS). Meanwhile, the online competition, participated by Josef and Phoebe, was held last June 15, 2024, through Eklavvya.


The Pamantasang May Puso commends and recognizes the outstanding academic achievements of Josef, Maemi, Steven, Phoebe, Hannah Kai, & Leisha at HKISO-Final Round 2024. Kudos as well to their dedicated coaches: Ms. Amelyn D.
