Sorsogon II Electric Cooperative (SORECO II), headed by Engr. Josef Erwin R. Tabuena (General Manager), generously donated a retrieved distribution transformer and other electrical construction materials to Sorsogon State University (SorSU) on May 13, 2025, to be used as instructional tools for the Electrical Technology program.
The donation from SORECO II includes the following:

2 pcs – Bolt, carriage 3/8” x 4 1/2”
1 pc – Bolt, machine 1/2” x 10”
3 pcs – Bolt, machine 5/8” x 12”
1 pc – Bolt, machine 5/8” x 14”
1 pc – Bolt, single upset, 5/8” x 10”
1 pc – Bolt, double upset, 5/8” x 10”
2 pcs – Brace, crossarm, 28” long, steel or wood
1 pc – Crossarm, steel 3 1/2” x 4 1/2”8 Ft.
3 pcs – Insulator, pin type, porcelain, ANSI class 55-5
2 pcs – Insulator, spool 1 3/4”, ANSI class, 53-2
2 pcs – Nut, lock, Mf Type, 3/8”

For educational purposes, SORECO II linemen installed the non-operational distribution transformer at the Electrical Technology Building to provide hands-on learning opportunities for students. This equipment, along with other donated electrical construction materials, will substantially enhance the academe’s current course offering, Power Systems, and an upcoming course on Transformers, designed to reinforce students’ practical skills development.
Key individuals from SorSU involved in this initiative were Dr. Orlando D. Doncillo (Dean, College of Technology), Mr. Alexander D. Jaynario (Area Chair, Electrical/Electronics Department), Engr. Vergielyn M. Matus, and Engr. Rap Anthony D. Tatad.
