As part of the university’s commitment to enhancing research and advancing educational practices, the SorSU-Sorsogon Policy Research Center (SorSU-SorPReCe) successfully organized the two-day event, Tawag Saliksik Kasanggayahan 2024: “Pag-ani nin Kaaraman, Paglaom sa Kasanggayahan”, held on December 10-11, 2024, at the SorSU Dormtel, Sorsogon City Campus.

The event began with welcome remarks from Engr. Ivy Rose V. Gonzales (Director, Research and Development). Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training Services), in lieu of SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, delivered the welcome remarks.


Moreover, Dr. Gerry S. Digo (Head, SorPReCe) gave an overview of the workshop’s objectives, while Dr. Susan S. Janer (Dean, Graduate School) introduced the workshop’s resource person, Dr. Arlyne C. Marasigan (Professor III, Philippine Normal University), who facilitated the sessions.


The event included three main lectures and corresponding workshops:

  • Lecture 1: Pressing Social Issues in Sorsogon, followed by a workshop on Identifying Topics from Policy Research.
  • Lecture 2: Policy Research: An Introduction, with a workshop on Conceptualizing Policy Research Proposal.
  • Lecture 3: Quality Standards for Policy Research Papers, followed by a workshop on Presentation and Feedback and Action Planning.

The workshop concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training). The sessions were well attended by DepEd teachers and SorSU faculty members, who participated and contributed to a productive exchange of ideas. (SorSU PIO)
