On World Teachers Day, the Castilla Campus College Student Council and other student organizations held a tribute to teachers last October 5, 2023 at the FTC AV Hall, Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus.
Prof. Andrew F. Detera, SorSU-CC Campus Director delivered the Opening Remarks, expressing his appreciation and gratitude for the faculty members’ commitment and devotion in not only fostering the intellectual growth of the students but also in cultivating their moral values as aspiring professionals.
In her message, our University President, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, expressed her gratitude to the teaching workforce for their role as not only mentors but also second parents to the students, and in this way, we as the “Pamantasang May Puso” can continue to work together to realize our beloved university’s vision, mission, and goals.
The Student Council organized several surprises for the faculty and staff, including activities such as games, dance and song performances, heartfelt messages from their loved ones, as well as awards of appreciation and recognition for both the personnel and teachers.
The star attraction of the event, titled “The Teachers Got Talent,” allowed students to witness the faculty’s skills and abilities. The newly hired faculty members performed their own number during intermission, while other faculty members displayed their talents to the audience.
Prof. Achilles G. Honasan, the Faculty Regent and SorSU-CC Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator, delivered an inspirational message emphasizing the importance of maintaining passion and determination in the teaching profession. He highlighted that students will forever remember their mentors and stressed that unwavering commitment and diligent efforts are crucial for achieving success. Mr. Jerome B. Gigantoca, President of the SorSU-CC Faculty Organization, delivered the closing remarks, in his message, Sir Jerome expressed his gratitude to the College Student Council, Campus Student Organizations, Personnel, and Administration for their efforts and support in making the teacher’s day celebration a success.
