In line with its commitment to advancing research-based innovation, the Sorsogon State University-Research, Extension, and Training (RET) launched its inaugural Research Seminar Series (ReSeS) on December 11, 2024, at the SorSU Main Library, Sorsogon City Campus.

The event was introduced by Dr. Ryan V. Dio (VP for Research, Extension, & Training), who outlined the program’s role in enhancing academic research. An audiovisual presentation highlighted RET’s goals and key areas of focus.

SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus underscored the significance of the seminar series and the relevance of such initiatives in the continuous enhancement of academic standards. She remarked, “Conducting activities like this will further strengthen the research culture of our university. Academic excellence cannot be achieved by simply enhancing the academic curriculum. We have to generate new knowledge through meticulous research to ensure that what we are teaching our learners is still relevant to their current situations.”

In addition, Dr. Higino A. Ables (SorSU Consultant) presented his study proposal titled, “Quantity and Quality Issues in State Higher Education: Focus on the Bicol Region.” This was followed by an open forum where participants had the opportunity to engage with the presenter and ask questions about the topic presented.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Susan S. Janer (Dean, Graduate School), who emphasized the importance of ongoing research and collaboration. The ReSeS will continue to support academic research and encourage collaboration among educators and researchers. (SorSU PIO)
