The Sorsogon State University (SorSU) proudly congratulates and applauds 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Crop Science (BSACS) student Ms. Rica Adelaine G. Oliquino from the SorSU – Castilla Campus for her outstanding academic achievement, bagging 3rd Place at the recently concluded Kabataang Organic Agriculture (OA) Quiz Bee – National Round, organized by the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute (DA ATI), last November 13-15, 2024, at the Axiaa Hotel, West Avenue, Quezon City, Metro Manila.
BSACS student Oliquino, who previously claimed the championship in the regional round, represented the Bicol Region as its sole contender, besting 12 other national competitors from various regions across the country.
Likewise, the SorSU community commends Mr. Marlon G. Gabelo (SorSU faculty, Castilla Campus) for his unparalleled commitment, guidance, and mentorship as Oliquino’s coach. Additionally, the academe acknowledges the invaluable support and assistance of Ms. Justine Rose C. Tubig (ATI-RTC V Organic Agriculture Focal Person) and Ms. Kristine Prieto (ATI-RTC V Representative) during the competition.
The National Kabataang Organic Agriculture (OA) Quiz Bee is among the key activities of DA’s 10th Organic Agriculture Month Celebration, designed to raise awareness among youth about organic agriculture and empower young individuals to pursue career paths in agriculture and other agriculture-related fields (DA ATI, 2023).
