On February 18, 2025, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) athletes delivered impressive performances on the first day of the 2025 Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) held at Camarines Norte State College, where they competed against the finest student-athletes from across the Bicol Region.
Two student-athletes from SorSU clinched gold and silver medals in their respective events. Anjelo Dino triumphed in both the Men’s Javelin Throw and Pole Vault, earning victories under the expert mentorship of coaches Mark Darrel Ergina and Danilo Dolindo.
Meanwhile, Princess Yzhey Dwyne Estopace claimed gold in the Women’s High Jump, with coaches Edmar Dollison, Danilo Dolindo, and Pinky Rey guiding her to victory. Estopace also added to her success by securing the silver medal in the 100-Meter Dash.
SorSU’s volleyball teams also delivered impressive performances. The Women’s Volleyball team started their campaign with a strong win against Catanduanes State University (CatSU), while the Men’s Volleyball team triumphed over Bicol University and Partido State University.
In Women’s Basketball, SorSU’s team began the tournament with a 76–70 win over Camarines Norte State College (CNSC). They continued their winning streak with a solid 72–58 victory against Partido State University (ParSU). Along with the volleyball teams, the women’s basketball squad is off to a dominant start in the competition.
The gold medals and victories on Day 1 of the 2025 Regional SCUAA solidified SorSU’s dominance in the regional games.
