SorSU BSED-Sciences Students bag championship for Best Research Paper Category at 2023 Bicol Student Teachers’ Congress 

Among the twenty-two (22) competing Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Bicol Region, Sorsogon State University fourth-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) – Major in Sciences students, Rupert James F. Gestiada and Frank Joseph G. Tisoy, along with their coach: Mr. Nestor L. Lasala, Jr. (CoTEd faculty member), won the championship for Best Research Paper Category during the 2023 Bicol Regional Student Teachers’ Congress – Research Competition, last May 25, 2023, at Legazpi City Convention Center, Legazpi City, Albay.

Out of the 22 HEI participants, the pre-selection committee shortlisted the entries to five (5) Best Research Entries in Stage 1 (Pre-Selection/Initial Screening). During Stage 2 (Pre-Final Screening/Selection of Finalists), the five best entries were subject to a formal research paper presentation before a panel of judges, who determined the three finalists among the five presentations. Subsequently, the selection of final winners adjudged 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Best Research Papers was evaluated by the Board of Judges composed of three research experts in Stage 3 (Final Screening: Best Research Paper Competition Proper), where the research paper of SorSU students Gestiada & Tisoy, entitled: “𝘛𝘩𝘦 360° 𝘝𝘪𝘦𝘸: 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘝𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦 7 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺” bagged the 1st Best Research Paper during the awarding ceremonies of the 2023 Bicol Regional Student Teachers’ Congress.

The research competition is one of the highlights of the 2023 Bicol Regional Student Teachers’ Congress, which is sponsored by the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) V, headed by Dr. Nora L. Licup (Regional Chair).
