SorSU-Bulan Sports Coordinator Janoras flies to Malaysia for short course on Sports Events Organizing 🇲🇾

Sorsogon State University – Bulan Campus Sports Coordinator Ms. Charmaine Janoras was one of the two faculty members of Sorsogon State University who were sent by the Commission on Higher Education in a short-course study for improving HEIs’ capacities to organize major sports events on November 24 to December 8, 2024 in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi, Malaysia.

Janoras received a certificate of program completion on sports management and tourism from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), through CHED funding.


Consistent with the ASEAN Work Plan on Sports for 2021-2025, the program was designed to upgrade the skills and capabilities of the participants in organizing sports tourism and executing major sports events at the local, regional and international levels.


Janoras, together with another faculty member from Sorsogon City Campus, represented SorSU as one of the 20 Philippine HEIs selected by CHED to join the program.


To ensure practical and hands-on application of the theories and knowledge they learned in the training sessions, Janoras, together with the participants, assisted in the preparations and the actual holding of the Langkawi International Half Marathon held at Mahsuri International Exhibition Center which was joined by more than 4,200 runner from 26 different nations, according to CHED.


This undertaking further manifests SorSU-Bulan’s commitment to quality higher educational services through the continuing professional development of its faculty members.
