Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Castilla campus has once again excelled in organic agriculture by claiming the top three spots at the Regional Kabataang Organic Agriculture (OA) Quiz Bee 2024. The competition, held at the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Training Institute (DA ATI) in Pili, Camarines Sur, carried the theme “ORAGON SA ORGANIK: An Organic Agriculture Quiz for Agriculture Students of SUCs,” emphasizing the vital role of youth in sustainable farming.
On November 7, 2024, SorSU achieved an impressive back-to-back championship and is set to advance to the National Round on November 14-15, 2024, at the ATI Central Office in Quezon City.
Leading the SorSU Castilla team, Rica Adelaine Oliquino from BSA CS 4A emerged as champion, while John Rave Aguilando from BAT 3B and Jan Kenneth Rosare from BSA CS 3B took the 1st and 2nd runner-up positions, respectively. Their achievements reflect SorSU Castilla’s dedication to excellence and sustainability in agriculture.
Guided by their coaches, Mr. Marlon Garbin Gabelo, Ms. Ghenly Morante-Gonzales, and Ms. Maryjane Tolosa, the team’s success was built on rigorous preparation and teamwork. SorSU Castilla bested the other competing Bicol SUCs namely Bicol University, University of Camarines Norte, Partido State University, Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology, and Catanduanes State University. SorSU Castilla’s victory showcased their prowess in organic agriculture knowledge.
The SorSU community and Sorsogon proudly celebrate this back-to-back championship and look forward to cheering on the team at the national level. This achievement not only highlights SorSU Castilla’s role in promoting organic agriculture but also sets high hopes for the national stage in Quezon City.
