The PACT-V General Assembly and Regional Convention in Chemistry Teaching successfully took place on March 28–29, 2025, at Ninong’s Hotel, Legazpi, Albay. The event gathered educators and researchers committed to enhancing Chemistry education. Organized by the Philippine Association of Chemistry Teachers – Region V Chapter (PACT-Bicol) Inc., in collaboration with Bicol University – Regional Center for Science and Mathematics Education Development (BU-RCSMED) and JCI Legazpi, the convention served as a dynamic platform for learning, collaboration, and innovation in teaching practices.
The two-day event featured plenary sessions, research presentations, and hands-on workshops exploring pedagogy, assessment, content development, and technological innovations in Chemistry instruction. Interactive activities, inspiring talks, and collaborative discussions fostered excellence in teaching and research.
A highlight of the convention was the recognition of Ms. Mari Anne B. Gojar, faculty member and International Relations Coordinator of SorSU Castilla Campus, as the Best Presenter for her research on “Teaching Chemistry Using Differentiated Instruction.” Her study showcased how tailoring instruction to students’ proficiency levels and learning styles can significantly enhance their understanding of Chemistry concepts and attitudes toward learning. Her passion for teaching and commitment to student-centered education earned her this well-deserved award.
Another key feature of the event was a workshop led by Prof. Mabille R. Longavela of SorSU Magallanes Campus, which focused on using molecular models to simplify complex Chemistry concepts. The session equipped educators with practical tools to make Chemistry learning more engaging and effective.
The event was graced by notable leaders in Chemistry education, including PACT-National President Dr. Voltaire G. Organo, PACT-V President Prof. Magnolia Vida A. Cano, and esteemed plenary speakers from various educational institutions across the Philippines.
