SorSU commences three-day Level IV Phase II AACCUP Online Program Accreditation for BSED, BT programs

Upholding the academe’s steadfast commitment to continually raise the standards of quality education and excellent services, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) formally commenced its three-day 4th Survey Phase 2 Visit for its two academic programs: the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) and the Bachelor of Technology (BT) under the Sorsogon City Campus, conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) from December 9-11, 2024, via hybrid platform at the SorSU Boardroom and SorSU Dormtel for in-person and online through Zoom Meeting.

Dr. Alonzo L. Mortejo, the AACCUP Team, Inc. Team Leader – BSED, provided the statement of purpose and overview, underscoring that accreditation is a deliberate, rigorous pursuit that reflects an institution’s unwavering commitment to excellence.


“For the overview of the accreditation process, the Level IV Phase II accreditation is the highest level of program evaluation, requiring a comprehensive review of an institution’s effectiveness and adherence to global standards.”


AACCUP Team Leader Dr. Mortejo also emphasized that the evaluation will focus on research performance, graduate performance, community extension, international linkages, as well as planning and quality assurance.


In her welcome remarks, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed AACCUP, Inc. accreditors for their commitment to evaluating the two curricular programs, as well as to the SorSU task force members for their hard work and perseverance.


Following the welcome message, the University key officials & unit heads were presented via an audio-visual presentation (AVP). Meanwhile, Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, SorSU-Sorsogon City Campus) introduced the campus officials and task force members.
The distinguished panel of AACCUP, Inc. accreditors comprised Dr. Mortejo (Team Leader) and Dr. Romeo T. Quintos Jr. (Lead Accreditor) for the BSED Program; Dr. Mayleen Dorcas B. Castro (Team Leader) and Dr. Romulo B. Mercado (Lead Accreditor) for the BT Program.


Moreover, an intermission performance featuring Jota Sevillana by SorSU Dance, Theater and Cultural Group through an AVP entertained the attendees during the opening program. Present during the activity were SorSU key officials, task force members, and working committees.


The three-day AACCUP accreditation encompasses orientation meetings on the accreditation and validation activities by the AACCUP, Inc., seminar proper and Q&A portion, perusal of documents and validation, and report preparation. (SorSU PIO)
