In the efforts to further international placement programs, Sorsogon State University Office of International Relations (SorSU-IRO) Castilla Campus team hosted a Zoom Meeting with Global Skilled Employment Services (GSES) last May 29, 2023.
This meeting was organized by the IRO team of the Castilla Campus, headed by its Campus Director, Prof. Andrew F. Detera. In the Zoom meeting, they met with GSES Director Ms. Estelle Mc Nally.
The GSES is a recruitment services company based in Melbourne,Australia that has deployed thousands of Filipinos to work in most sectors and industries in Regional and Metropolitan areas in various states of Australia (https://www.gsemployment.com.au/) . In relation to this, the GSES has assisted the employment of Sorsogon State University graduates who are now residing in Australia.
As reported in the meeting, the Australian employers have positive feedback on the work attitude of the Filipinos, thus they come to offer internship programs for Filipino 4th-year students in farms, and the agriculture sector.
The meeting concluded with a possible collaboration agreement of the GSES and Castilla Campus for internships and employment /placement programs. On the job training as well as apprenticeship programs overseas are highly beneficial to SorSU students in their pursuit of knowledge and greater performance.
